legal

Is this legal?
Yes.

encounters

What if I encounter a law enforcement officer using both RADAR and LIDAR?
Record 2 different encounters, one for RADAR and one for LIDAR. Adding a note about the use of both methods in the notes section can help others become aware that the law enforcement agency uses the 2 methods simultaneously.
Why do I only have 7 days to enter an encounter?
The details are fresh right after an encounter.
Fine, I'll just lie about the date and put the earliest date when I get around to it.
Can't stop you. The integrity of the database is in your finger tips.
Why is there a 3 day time limit on edits?
The details are fresh right after an encounter.
Note: Edits to an encounter are tracked. Although nothing is currently being done with this information, it will allow the originator to roll back any changes (s)he has made.
Fine, since I can't edit it, I'll just delete my encounter and put in another one. I'm within my 7 days.
Sounds like a plan, Stan.

searches

Are my searches stored in any way?
Nope, not a single one. Search for anything you want. The number of searches completed is however stored as a plain old integer. The purpose? To watch for any abuse of the system, as in performing 1,000 searches a day...or a second for that matter.

privacy

Why do you need my email address?
Just for identification and the occasional adminstrative email. A single welcome email will be sent to the address. No emails with confirmation codes/links is ever sent, and we don't send you any birthday emails. We're not all that cordial.
Will people know which encounters I entered?
Only if you choose. When you enter or edit an encounter, you have an option to submit the encounter anonymously or not. If you opt-out of anonymity, your username will appear next to the encounter(s) of your choosing.
So if I submit my encounters anonymously, they won't ever be able to be tracked back to me?
Not true. During searches for encounters, if you chose the encounter to be anonymous, it will remain anonymous to the public and other members. However, in order for you to be able to edit or delete your encounters, means exist to tie your username back to a specific encounter, whether submitted anonymously or not. Rest assured, the means is not available to the general public.

abuse

What happens if I do search too many times, or "abuse" the system?
Don't be suprised if you receive an email. You will be given 24 hours to respond and correct the situation. You give a rubber email or don't respond, your account and all information will be immediately deleted.
We have no problems deleting unappreciated encounters and/or users. We have a hot knife that cuts users and encounters like warm butter. Quality, not quantity.
