This is not your ordinary cop site...
Understand that a little bit of information is valueable, but that value increases exponentially with the addition of each piece of information. Cataloging that a law enforcement vehicle was parked in your apartment complex when you came in this morning, although useful, it doesn't provide much information, even if there was an officer inside of it. We don't want to catalog where law enforcement officers live, that's just creepy.
Along the same lines, if there is a law enforcement officer sitting in the median, that sighting alone doesn't provide us with anything to go on. We know police sit in the medians, that is what they are there for. Spirited driving involves constant viligance, which covers scanning of the roadway. Trapster is perfectly taylored to suit such encounters.
This website aims to take it to the next level, and center stage is equipment. If you chose to add an encounter, it is essential to provide the speed measurement equipment used in the encounter. Knowing which band of RADAR or type of LIDAR equipment was used takes the ordinary law enforcement officer sighting to a different level. By reporting that information, we now know WHAT to look for...besides the cop.
A law enforcement officer is only effective when people can see him. If drivers can know that an officer is present long before seeing him, his effectiveness now covers a much larger area, making the roads safer. Panic braking when you see an officer, when combined with the other drivers around you, creates a dangerous, and large, speed differential. Hoping the driver behind you saw the officer as well and is going to brake as you did is a dangerous assumption.
